Look at the amazing things we will be getting up to this year.
Our topic for this term – Summer 1
Each half term we use a selection of quality texts to base our English lesson around. This half term, we will be starting with ‘Oi Frog’, where we will be getting to grips with rhyming. We will also be looking at a range of fiction and non fiction books all about Dinosaurs.
In RE we will be looking at different places of worship, including a Church, Mosque, Synagogue and Gurdwara. On the the 11th April, Spectacular Sycamores and Lively Laurels will be visiting a Gurdwara and on the 18th April, Helpful Hollies and Positive Palms will get their turn to visit a Gurdwara.
During this topic we learnt all about London and the Great fire. We built our own houses and watched what happened when fire spread from one house to another.
Our very own superheros’s visited school…
As it was Christmas we were lucky enough to go to the Church where we acted out the story of the nativity and because of all our hard work in class we also had a surprise visit from Santa who delivered lots of nice presents.
During this topic, we learnt all about different animals, where they live, what they like to eat and how to care for them. We had a very special visitor, Alfie the Chihuahua and his owner Jo. They taught us how to approach a dog safely and how to look after a dog.
During this topic, we learnt about what plants need to grow and then we grew our own ‘Bean plants’. We also looked at different types of plants, such as herbs. We smelt all of the herbs and chose our favourite one to fragrance the play dough we made. We used basil, lemon thyme, parsley and mint.
Spectacular sycamores has lots of fun retelling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
As it was the Spring Term we were also lucky enough to go and visit the freshly hatched chicks in Nursery.
